2008 Frisco City Council Candidate - Place 5

Jim Tupper -
2008 Frisco City Council Candidate - Place 6

Bob Allen - two term, former Frisco City Council Member

On June 1st we received a surprise email from Bob Allen.  In it he endorsed the Nelson campaign!  We are thrilled and humbled to receive an endorsement from such a prominent and involved resident.  Bob has served our city twice as a City Council member and currently serves the city in additional voluntary roles.  Below are the contents of Bob's endorsement.

"If you are like many citizens, you may not realize (or remember) that a runoff election is underway for the Frisco City Council.  As I have stated in the past, local elections are the most important elections in which we can participate.  It is these local officials that control your property taxes, construction of your roadways, your public safety, the quality of your drinking water
, and much more.  I would also like to take this opportunity to ask you to consider offering your support and your vote to Tim Nelson.  I have had the opportunity to get to know Tim and I find him to be an outstanding young man that has offered much of his life to public service.  Speaking from my personal experience on the Frisco City Council, I cannot think of a better way for him to continue to serve the public.

Tim and Candice have two children and have lived in Frisco for the past 9 years, so he has certainly experienced the city's growth and has an understanding of what is important to us.  In addition to his responsibilities as an account manager at WW Grainger, Tim also serves as a Commander for the US Army Reserves.  He is a decorated soldier, who was awarded the Bronze Star while serving America during his tour of duty in Iraq in 2003-2004.  Tim has almost 20 years of service in the US Army and Army Reserves.  Most recently, Tim was honored as the U.S. Reserve Officers Association Junior Officer of the Year.  I cannot think of any better qualifications from this year's list of candidates.

I urge you to learn more about Tim by visiting his website at www.votefortim.org/.  I also remind you that early voting begins on Monday and there really is no reason that you cannot ensure that your voice is heard.

Thank you for your time.  Please share this message with your Frisco friends and neighbors.  Together, we can make a difference."

Ready for command

Tim Nelson exudes an aura of confidence that one would expect from a captain in the military.  The brisk steps.  The tone of authority.  He is a man who gets to the point.

The Place 5 City Council candidate and 721st Engineer Company commander manages millions as an account manager and still finds time to support the Frisco Veterans of Foreign Wars and several charities in the area.

The nine-year resident favors managing growth through a balanced approach, working to reduce city crime by raising public awareness, and putting dollars back in residents' pockets through initiatives such as lowering tolls for those who carpool.

Bart Crowder has been here as a Frisco's city council candidate.  He has all the makings of a good council member who understands the need to develop relationships at county, state, and federal levels, but he has shown an uneasiness in answering tough questions, such as one about his position on extending late night alcohol sales to 2 a.m.

We applaud Antonio Luevano for bringing the issue of minority representation and diversity to the consciousness of Frisco voters, but he must offer stronger ideas outside of this one issue.

[John] Newsome has lived here for about a year and it shows.  He casts himself as the outsider who could bring a fresh perspective to the council, but he is ignorant of many of the city's issues and its residents' needs.

The Frisco Enterprise endorses Tim Nelson for City Council Place 5.
